Sanche: Holy Paladin (Bonus prot actions features)

Personal information.

Hi, My name is Dave, I'm twenty and from the south coast of England. I'm about to finish my first year of my degree in Primary Education which will lead to my chosen career as a Primary school teacher. As such my quality of written and spoken English is top notch, after all I am English born and bred.

Enough about that on to the stuff concerning World of Warcraft.

I can raid any weekday evening, (with the exception of Friday due to the part time job thats putting me through university) and weekend afternoons and evenings. My classification of the evenings is from around 6pm GMT to late. How late can be negotiated but I draw the line at the wee-hours of the morning as I unfortunately require sleep occasionally.

Character information.

I'm applying as a Holy Paladin, armory link: (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Agamaggan&n=Sanche). My spec is pretty standard (51/5/15) however this can obviously be modified if needed and the glyphs are self-explanatory as well. With the exception of including Glyph of Beacon of Life over Glyph of Holy Light. This is because in my recent raids (rolling Ulduar 10 with a caster heavy group) the bonus healing from the glyph was often wasted as I would be healing the tank and there would be no melee.

Should I be offered a place and begin raiding in a less atypical raiding environment this would obviously be the first thing I would change.

As the subject field implies my off-spec is protection however this a recent addition to my character and as such the gear is barely sufficient for the role. This spec was mainly to give me a change from healing and give me something to tinker with in the off hours.

Interface.

My interface is a constantly changing aspect of my character; however the most current layout, as shown in this screen shot, is my favorite of all the layouts I've had so far and I intend to stick with this one. Screen shot :http://bildr.no/view/438505

Key bindings are relatively simple

1,2,3,4,5,Q,F,E,R,X,T,G with and without modifiers and the Function keys as well as a few mouse buttons.

I heal with X Q F E R which are bound to mouse over macros of my healing spells. The mouse over macros are used in conjunction with Grid.

PvE experience.

I've played WoW since about a month from EU-Release all those years ago.

Vanilla WoW- I played a human warlock in a semi-hardcore raiding guild on EU-Slyvannas we had cleared ZG,AQ20,MC,BWL,Ony and had started to step foot into AQ 40 when TBC hit.

TBC – Cleared Kara, Gruul, TK and SSC on my warrior as protection then arms.

WOTLK – Played as a Holy Paladin killed everything in Nax 10/25, Malygos 10/25, Sartharion 2D (25), and everything up to Mimiron in Ulduar 10. Currently only killed Kologarn in Uldaur 25. (Random I know)

Guild history.

Reminiscence - Joined this guild when I was in fresh leveling gear and quickly geared up, I had plenty of opportunity to practice my the fine art of healing during my time there as I attended nearly every raid. This guild merged with A Few Good Men to form Neverending.

Neverending – I was one of the members from Reminiscence that was involved in the initial talks to create Neverending and planned to be a core member of the guild. However unfortunately this did not occur owning to a rather tragic IRL occurrence which caused WoW to become sidelined. By the time I returned properly to game the guild was on it's last legs.

Psychedelic Circus - The guild founded by me and other IRL friends, we recently disbanded. And am currently guildless.

Connection and hardware.

My PC is less than six months old and my connection is as stable and as fast as you can get on BT's lovely telephone system. (If any of you are from the UK I'm sure you know what I mean!)

Lag is a rare occurrence and disconnection is rare still. I've never attempted to use fraps but I know how it works and good give it a go but I can make no promises.

Why you?

I am a dedicated and experienced player with a professionally tuned ability to reflect on my own performance (seriously you should count the amount of self-evaluations I have to do for my course). I listen to instructions and am not afraid to contribute my own ideas and opinions if appropriate. I play game for the fun I get from learning and utilizing the game mechanics to achieve something, purples are little more than extending my ability to progress and see more of the game.

Why AO?

I am applying to AO because I feel you can provide the gaming environment I seek, one based around the idea of achieving in this game and not simply selfish greed. A guild that values its good players and encourages all players to achieve their maximum.

Last words.

I know a few people in AO but I'll just mention two who can vouch for me, Elixxi is my IRL mate of many years and Gothie was the guild leader of Reminiscence and as such can vouch for my healing and contributory ability.

Yeah just a side note, this week is my final week of the academic year and as such is insanely busy so I might not be around much over the next few days but I doubt this will be a problem as you'd be taking that time to consider my application carefully.

Thank you for taking the time to read this application

edit: font is now of a readable size

Excellent Healing Paladin,

Obviously tho Officers would need to decide if we have a position available

Nice application.

Noticed a few things thou, your using 3, 8int 3mp/5 gems, you only need 1 to meet your meta requirement.
You would get more benefit in swapping 2 of those for +16 int gems (atm)
About your enchants, i´d swap the wrist enchant for a +30 SP one, The chest could use 10 stats,
and tbh life and death isn´t worth the 63 sp no more so thats fine.

Few questions thou.
Looking at the current ptr build, what is your opinion on te holy paladin changes?
How will you look at Mp/5 after the buff, will u use it more? or keep stacking crit?
And last but not least, how do u think a paladin should heal in a raid (heroic) with these changes?

Re: Sanche: Holy Paladin (Bonus prot actions featu
Nice point about the gems it's something I can easily sort out. The only explaination I can offer is that at the time I was gemming I was incorrectly using the wrong meta which required must have required more at it must have slipped my mind when I swapped meta's. Though I'm not sure on that.

The chest only has +8 stats cause at the time that I picked it up I was rather poor but I've sorted that issue so I can whack a +10 on there.

Bracers, I just went for int cause I liked stacking it but you are right +30sp is more benefical. And ye I didn't feel Life and Death warranted +63.

I have done my best to keep up with the ptr changes but if any of the information I base these answers on is now outdated I do apologise, real life has been keeping me busy.

In short I like the Holy paladin changes.

-Beacon of Light will finally do what it should have done at launch.
-Flash of Light Hot's are interesting but limitedly useful unless they revert Sacred Shield back to it's 3.0 cast on everyone design.
-Illumination, Well our mana regen was honestly a little too high, I would struggle to make myself oom if I tried. The change will provide a new level of challenge to playing the class.

Mp/5 is going to be interesting I think I will use it more with the buff but I'm eager to see how it compares with Int after the buffs and nerfs. Can't rule Int out straight away Illumination will still provide some mana and unless Divine Plea and Repleshiment gets changed to scale on MP5 and not max mana; Int will remain our keystat for regen. As well as the other benefits Int brings to the table.

How will heal in 3.2
Well for starters you'd beacon the tank. The change to beacon means that if we know when someone other than the tank is going to take damage we can have a HL ready to heal the moment they take damage safe in the knowledge ,that provided the heal lands, the tank will also be healed.

An example I can think of off the top of my head is XT's Tantrum, we obviously know this is going to hit and hit hard. We can have a HL ready on a raid member for when it hits and then Holy Shock another raid member which means that 2 raid members have been healed and the tank recieves somewhere in the region of 23k heals as well.

It's not going to make use fabulous raid healers but it will allow us to chip in with out endangering the tank.

Re: Sanche: Holy Paladin (Bonus prot actions featu
good reply.
I am using a full T8.5 set on my paladin, and all sorts of other gear with loads of mp/5 on it and i can tell u now my mana regen is exactly the same in as a holydin that is stacking crit.

About fol, i agree its use is limited, but it also doubles its heal, on the ss´d target.
Thats roughly the same as a normal holy light heal, when it crit´s and last its full duration ofc.

I am curious does the additional regen on t8.5 make up for losing the 4 piece 7.5 (10% reduced mana cost on HL). Although I currently only have 3/4 7.5 (shoulders were sidegraded for current ones) I'm sure getting the final piece would only be with luck one Naxx run away.

Also that the heal of FoL is doubled is something I didn't register previously and that affects my judgement of the buff, in short it's looking better.
